What makes it required
The deadline was May 29, 2026. A late return is fined 1% a month on the tax due, at least R$165.74 and at most 20% of that tax; with no tax due, the fine is R$165.74.
You don't have to file your own return if you're listed as a dependant on someone else's return that includes your income and assets.
If assets are your only reason and your spouse or partner declared your shared assets, you don't have to file either, as long as your own assets are worth no more than R$800,000.
