Brazil vs Latin America visas
Brazil's digital nomad and investor routes compared with Colombia, Mexico, Argentina, Panama and Uruguay: income rules, minimum investments, how long you can stay and the path to residence.
Digital nomad visas
- 🇨🇴 Brazil or Colombia digital nomad visa? Both countries have a dedicated visa for remote workers paid from abroad, with similar income bars. Colombia gives you a longer first stay; Brazil lets you qualify on savings alone and apply from inside the country.
- 🇲🇽 Brazil or Mexico for remote workers?Brazil has a dedicated digital nomad visa. Mexico doesn't: remote workers use temporary residency, which asks for roughly three times more income but leads to permanent residence after four years.
- 🇦🇷 Brazil or Argentina digital nomad visa?Argentina's nomad permit is short and light on paperwork. Brazil's lasts longer and is a real residence. If you want to stay in Argentina for good, its rentista residence is the closer match.
Investor visas and residency
- 🇦🇷 Brazil or Argentina investment visa?Brazil sells residence that leads to citizenship over time. Argentina now offers both: a residence for investors in a local business, and a new program that grants citizenship directly for a large contribution.
- 🇵🇦 Brazil or Panama investor visa?Panama gives permanent residence on day one, in a dollar economy, for a higher minimum. Brazil starts lower and lets you invest in a business as well as property.
- 🇺🇾 Brazil or Uruguay for investors?Uruguay doesn't sell residence for investment: it grants permanent residence to people with steady income, and uses investment for tax status. Since January 2026, that tax benefit costs far more.
