Digital nomad visa
Do you qualify for Brazil's digital nomad visa?
Brazil lets remote workers live here for up to a year, renewable once, as long as they work for employers or clients abroad. Answer four questions to check the main conditions.
Answer the questions above to see whether the digital nomad route fits you.
What you'll need
You can renew once, for the same period, with up-to-date documents and your RNM card. Once your visa or residence is granted, you register with the Federal Police.

Only staying a few months? Depending on your passport, you can work remotely as a visitor, without this visa. Check your passport
The rules in brief
- A digital nomad works remotely, over the internet, for an employer or clients outside Brazil.
- Working for an employer in Brazil, with or without an employment contract, rules this route out.
- You need at least US$1,500 a month from a payer abroad, or at least US$18,000 available in the bank.
- From abroad, you apply for the visa at a Brazilian consulate. From inside Brazil, you apply to the Ministry of Justice for residence.
- Residence lasts up to one year and can be renewed once, for the same period.
- For shorter stays, you can work remotely as a visitor, within the stay your passport allows.
